PRESS RELEASE: Turkish Migration Conference 2015 Prague, Czech Republic

 
29 June 2015– Prague, Czech Republic – Turkish Migration Conference 2015 proved to be a great event facilitating debates and setting the agenda for research and policy in human mobility, conflict, crises, and integration with particular reference to Turkish migrants and diaspora communities around the world as well as many studies on Syrians and other movers in Turkey. The conference ended on a high note on Saturday evening with a traditional Czech dinner at Plzenska Restaurant in Municipal House in Republic Square of Prague.

Migration scholarship lost one of the great researchers

 

A distinguished Australian demographer, Professor Graeme Hugo had been ill for a short time and passed away in the early hours of 20th January. He was one of the leading researchers at the University of Adelaide, Australia where he was Professor of Geography and Director of the Australian Population and Migration Research Centre. Professor Hugo was a good citizen of academia and contributed significantly to the study of international migration and population geography internationally.

Turkish Migration Conference 2015: Economics, Identities, and Geographies - 25-27 June 2015 - is the 3rd Turkish Migration Conference is hosted by Charles University Prague, Czech Republic. A multidisciplinary conference in nature will cover the theme Economics, Identities, and Geographies invites abstracts/papers/session proposals from academics, practitioners, policy makers, and students in migration in, from, to and through Turkey. The organising partners are Regent’s Centre for Transnational Studies (RCTS) at Regent’s University, Faculty of Humanities at Charles University and the conference committee is co-chaired by Prof Ibrahim Sirkeci, Prof Philip Martin and Dr Wadim Strielkowski.
