This book edited by Prof. Dr Uday Salunkhe, Dr V. Kumar, Prof. Dr D.N. Murthy, and Bharath Rajan, brings together critical and up-to-date analysis by more than 30 experts on business and management research in India. The editors offer a scoping review of management research in the Indian context and reflect on ways in which this strand of research can help better understand and solving business and societal challenges. About Editors and Contributors:

Prof Dr Uday Salunkhe heads S.P. Mandali’s Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool) as its Group Director. An ‘Edupreneur’ and ‘turnaround specialist’, Dr. Salunkhe’s passion for leadership, design thinking and innovation has helped WeSchool carve itself a niche in the space of management education. He has the distinction of being the recipient of the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship, USA, which identifies, empowers and links leaders across the globe. He is actively associated with universities and corporations at national and international levels.

Dr V. Kumar (VK) is a Professor of Marketing and the Goodman Academic-Industry Partnership Professor Goodman School of Business, Brock University, ON, Canada, and a Distinguished Professor of Research WeSchool, India. He is also the Distinguished Term Professor and Senior Fellow, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, India; HUL Visiting Chair Professor, IIM Ahmedabad, India; and the Distinguished Fellow, MICA, Ahmedabad, India. Dr. Kumar has also been honoured as a Legend in Marketing through the Legends in Marketing series published by Sage Publications. His research focuses on rigour (i.e., developing new methods) and relevance (i.e., solving business problems). He has published over 250 scholarly papers and 25 books and has received over 25 Research and Teaching Excellence Awards. He has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Marketing (2014-2018). Among other editorial positions, he serves as the Department Editor of productions and Operations Management and as the Consulting Editor, Journal of International Business Studies.

Prof Dr D.N. Murthy, Professor in Marketing area, has more than 23 years experience in Teaching, consulting and research. Post his Ph.D. in Strategic Marketing Management from Bangalore University, he has pursued his Post-Doctoral Research from Fosters Business School, University of Washington, Seattle, USA. With long years of experience in industry and academia, he has been a consultant for the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) in implementing the Business Clusters Project concept in India for machine tool SMEs. He has conducted several MDPs for leading corporates like Apple Inc., Rockwell Automation, Videocon, and Emerson engineering. He is a regular faculty trainer in the areas of strategic marketing. He has conducted several FDPs in top-rated Universities in India and abroad. He was the Dean / Director at IFIM Business School and Kirloskar Institute of Management Studies. He has visited prestigious Universities like Ecole De Grenoble (France), University of Ohio (USA), Howard University (USA), and Malardalen University (Sweden) on academic assignments. He has widely traveled to the USA, Canada, Germany, France, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Malaysia and on a faculty exchange program, visited MDU, Sweden and engaged a couple of courses.

Bharath Rajan is the Associate Dean of research at WeSchool, Mumbai, India. He received his MBA from Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA. He has published in business and marketing journals such as the MIT Sloan Management Review, California Management Review, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of International Marketing, International Marketing Review, and Industrial Marketing Management, among others. His research interests include customer engagement, marketing strategy, and new-age technologies.

Aditya Basu is a PGDM(C) student. He focused on analysing the Twitter sentiment for the state assembly elections held in 2022. The sentiment analysis covers Gujarat, Goa, Manipur, and Punjab’s primary emotions around the election. He researched and analysed the sentiments and the variables through hashtag analysis, frequency of tweets, and visual imagery that factored into the voter turnout for the elections.

Aniket Sakhare, a BSc Agriculture graduate currently pursuing a Masters in Management Studies from Welingkar Institute of Management, has a strong inclination towards the banking sector. With a diverse educational background, including expertise in agriculture and management, Aniket brings a unique perspective to the field. Having briefly worked at RBI, Aniket has gained valuable experience and a deep understanding of the financial industry. Arnita Sur has a Master’s degree in Business Administration in Finance from CHRIST (Deemed to be) University, Bengaluru. She has eight months of work experience in Deloitte as a Tax Consultant and seven months of work experience as an Accounts Executive at ESDY Lubes Pvt. ltd. She has done internships at Goldman Sachs Services Pvt Ltd and Bengal Beverages Pvt Ltd. She is Qualified in UGC NET 2022 and an overall batch topper (Commerce) at Aditya Academy secondary in 12th Standard.

Asha Mathew is an Assistant Professor and Senior Manager of quality Systems at S. P. Mandali’s Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research in Bengaluru. Her expertise lies in quality initiatives of management institutions, and she is passionate about research in Higher Education and Information Systems. As a PhD candidate at the University of Mysore, India, her research is focused on technology adoption for student assessment.

Ashima Mahto is working as a Research Assistant at MICA. She is a postgraduate in Economics from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Her research interest is Political Economy, Gender issues, and development economics. On her part, she did primary data collection from four distinct constituencies of Ahmedabad. Her contribution includes content analysis, a literature review on voting behaviour and factors impacting voting behaviour, and synthesising the primary data with the secondary data set.

Ashutosh Dutt is an associate professor at MICA and contributes to the field of marketing analytics. Prof. Dutt advised the Delhi Government and the Delhi Women’s Commission on research and analysis. His research interest areas are political marketing and pedagogy. The notion of comprehending women’s voting behaviour in Gujarat was conceived as part of Prof. Dutt’s contribution to the article. Prof. Dutt developed the basic framework for synthesising the paper’s primary data, sentiment analysis, and content analysis. Given the lower voting rates among women in Gujarat in the previous assembly election, he did the content analysis of the editorials, which covered the election headlines of the state elections held in 2022.

Bharath. H is a research scholar in the field of management. With a passion for knowledge and a dedication to academic excellence, he has significantly contributed to their discipline through extensive research and critical analysis. He has multiple academic and musical achievements.  Mr. Bharath holds a Master’s degree in Management (MBA) and a Master of Science degree (M.Sc)  in psychology with good industrial exposure. He worked as a sales manager at Aditya Birla Housing Finance for a brief duration. Currently, he serves as a Teaching Assistant in the Marketing department at CMS Business School, Jain, deemed to be a University.

Chandra Sen Mazumdar did a B.Tech. in Chemical Technology from the University of Calcutta and Masters & PhD in Operations Management from the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. She has a consolidated industry and academic experience of 14 years. Chandra is an Associate Professor at the M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences. She has published research papers in peer-reviewed Journals & conferences and is the reviewer for 3 Scopus-indexed journals.

Deepak Gajanan Deshmukh is a management trainee at Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance. He completed his PGDM in Rural Management from WeSchool, Mumbai. He has hands-on experience working on research projects funded by NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) and ICICI Bank. These projects focused on financial inclusion and rural development, his areas of interest. He also developed a prototype for the Ministry of Culture in the Smart India Hackathon. He is passionate about working in rural development and financial inclusion.

Fathima Raj Kilimas is passionate about the various interventions in technology, especially in the field of Digital Marketing and Artificial Intelligence. He possesses more than a decade’s experience in Consulting, Branding, Digital Marketing, and Academics. He works as the Creative Director and senior Manager – Marketing, Branding and OD at Cubera, an AdTech and Big Data Analytics company from Bengaluru, India. He has published case studies, book chapters, and multiple international & national journals on Digital Marketing.

Ganesh L is currently Professor-Strategy and Leadership Area; Leader for Accreditation -AACSB, NBA  at School of Business and Management, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru. He has over 25 years of industry–academic experience. To his credit, he has been Top 10% of Authors on SSRN continuously for 2017 – 2020, with an H index 11, Citations 535, RG Score 8 with 351 citations and 20,361 reads and published more than 45 papers in Peer peer-reviewed journals. He is a Resource person for Kerala, Kannur, Anna, Amity and MG Universities. Added to his credit, he is a Corporate Trainer for TATA SED, ABB, Coconut Board, GMR, 24[7]ai.

Ishani Chakraborty is a content creator and curator presently associated with S.P. Mandali’s Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research in Bengaluru. Her expertise lies in writing business case studies. As a Research Scholar at Aligarh Muslim University, India, her research area is leadership effectiveness in the Banking industry.

Jinal Soni, an engineer currently pursuing a Master of Management Studies in Finance at Welingkar Institute, holds a deep interest in financial analysis and the banking industry. With a strong focus on utilising her technical background and financial expertise, Jinal aims to contribute to the future of banking. Joseph Durai Selvam is an Associate Professor in Finance focusing on Statistical Analysis of Financial Data.  He has more than a decade of experience in Population Research and teaching. He holds a Master’s Degree in Statistics, a Master’s Degree in Population Studies and a Doctorate Degree in Applied Statistics. He has more than ten years of experience in Post Graduate Teaching related to Statistics, Research Methodology and Operations Research. He has more than ten publications to his credit.

Kamini Khanna (M.S.C Economics (Hons), M.Phil  (Gold Medalist), Ph.D ) has 15 years of teaching experience. She received J.L Batra Best Research Paper Award (2016, AIIMS convention). She was also awarded the Best Summer Trainee Award at the National Level in E-4 MBA. DR Khanna writes extensively and has more than 60 publications spanning outlets, including referred journals, book chapters and edited books. She has also written three books, including a textbook on research methodology.

Kaustubh Dhargalkar is an entrepreneur-turned-academician and innovation evangelist. He is the Dean of Business Design, Innowe, REDX & NISP @Weschool, and Author of  It’s Logical: Innovating Profitable Business Models is a recommended text at many campuses.  He has two TEDx talks to his credit about fostering an innovation culture in organisations. Runner-up at the Wharton School’s prestigious Global Innovation Tournament in 2010. Recipient of the ‘Entrepreneurship Educator & Mentor Award by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship- Government of India.

Kiran. G is a professional of marketing and Advertising having rich and vast experience in research, teaching, and consulting at National and International respectively. He holds the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management MBA (Marketing) from the Institute of management Studies Kuvempu University. He has completed his CRM certification from IIM-B. He has to his credit books concerning the areas of Marketing Management, Services Marketing and Food Retaining. He has published more than scholarly articles and research papers at the National & International Levels. He works as an Associate professor (marketing) at the Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research.

Madhav Murthy is a passionate and professional educator par excellence, having a rich experience of 16 years in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Dr Madhav has acquired his B.E, M.Tech, Ph.D from V.T.U Belgaum & M.B.A in Marketing from Bangalore University. He has taught courses both from an engineering and management background. Dr Murthy has published several research articles in national and international journals and conferences. Dr Murthy is a life member of various professional bodies such as IEI, ISTE, ISAMPE, TERA and IAENG. He also has organised several workshops and conferences for students and faculty.

Mahalakshmi is a highly accomplished professional with a PhD in Management, extensive industry experience as an Associate Project Manager, and expertise in Marketing and Technology. She holds multiple academic achievements, including three gold medals and the top state rank in her MBA studies. Dr. Mahalakshmi serves as a Subject Matter Expert for executive MBA programs in Manipal and upGrad. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor in the Marketing department at CMS Business School, Jain, deemed to be a University.

Malabika Purkayastha is an academician with extensive teaching experience in management programs. Her research interests lie in online consumer buying and services marketing. Her previous publications are primarily in the areas of customer loyalty and retail management. A Masters in Philosophy in Management and NET (National Eligibility Test in Management) qualified, she emphasises foundational knowledge for developing critical thinking. A devout teacher and a voracious learner, her current research focus is exploring the different generational implications of value co-creation.

Manas Shrivastav recently graduated with an MBA degree, specialising in Business Analytics, from Christ University Bangalore. He is a trained statistician from the university of Mysore with specialisation in Operations Research (OR) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC). He also possesses post-graduate degree in Analytics. He has excellent working knowledge in Statistics, Operations Research, research methodology and machine learning.

R A Dakshina Murthy is Sr. Associate Dean – Operations at Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, and has worked for over 22 years in the industry as General Manager- Operations. He has experience in Purchase and Supply Chain Management, Product Development and Manufacturing, Quality Control and Quality Management Systems. His specialised teaching area include World Class Manufacturing, Project Management, TQM, ERP and Supply Chain Management and logistics. He has many publications in the International Journal that include chapters in books.

Rajakumar Alagar Presently, working as Librarian in Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Karnataka, Bangalore. He did his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in JNRM College, Port Blair, Andaman and his master’s degree in library and information Science from the University of Madras, Chennai. He has professional experience in various academic Institutes, including Medical, Information and communication Technology, Management & Engineering—his overall responsibilities at Learning Resource Centre including Print and digital collection management and implementation of E-resources.

Rijan Gaha  is from Bangalore, India and holds undergraduate degree in BCom and MBA from Christ University. He works as a Business Analyst at Happiest Minds Technologies. Vandana Panwar, Associate Professor of Finance at the Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research in Mumbai- India. She has 21 years of teaching, 23 years of research experience (30+International and national papers, book chapters, and book reviews), authored a book titled-“Venture Capital Funding- Indian and International Experiences” and worked on 5 Pre & Post funding evaluations of projects assisted by Council for Advancement of People’s Action in Rural Technology and Asia Region-World Association for Christian Communication.

Vanee Subramanian is a recent MBA graduate specialising in Business Analytics, driven by a passion for data analytics and AI. Vijaya Kumar Bhima Rao has over 30 years of corporate experience of which 15+ years in product development spanning phones, tablets, wearables, embedded systems. He has vast leadership experience ranging from starting and leading companies, evaluating, and proposing new technologies for emerging markets. He is a member of the board of studies at Visveswaraya Technological University’s Smart Manufacturing program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineers, MS degrees in Industrial engineering & Information systems, MBA, and Ph.D.
